Happy Birthday to Me!
Today’s my birthday and not spending it exactly as I had planned! No brunches with the girls, no shopping for that “it” bag I’d been eying, and probably no big slice of cake that I’d totally regret right after eating it. You see, we ended up at the hospital last night. We originally thought my son had a bad stomach bug but turns out he had appendicitis and to make things worse it had burst! Thanks to the great doctors at Sick Kids Hospital, his surgery was successful this morning and he’s now resting. His little sister also had big plans for brunches, lunches and dinners for mommy’s birthday which…
Easy Tips to Get Organized for Back To School
Hi everyone! How did you all survive the first week of school last week? I have to be honest while it was nice having the kids home for the summer, we did need to get back to some sort of a regular routine so back to school has been great for that! And I’ve been trying to make it a little less stressful this year too by getting ourselves a bit more organized! Yup, it’s true! Aside from the laundry pile-up, I’m a bit of a neat freak. As a kid I would colour coordinate my closet and I’m not going to lie I love a neat desk space…
Staycation with the Kids in Toronto Survival Guide
Happy Monday everyone! I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through the summer! We’ve been having lots of fun with the kids out of school even though it was a staycation kind of year. I’ll be honest though, there have been a couple days where I was cuing the Staples Back to School commercial in my head. You know the one, happy parents, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. For the most part we’ve had a blast and the kids have been telling me it’s the best summer they’ve ever had! Mom win! With less than a month left to go and no vacation plans in sight, I…
Awesome Mom DIY Summer Camp at Home!
No more homework, no more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks! Ok, all but the last one because the kids had some pretty amazing teachers this year! School’s officially out, now what!?! It’s the last day of school and the kids are super excited for a bit of freedom and lots of relaxing this summer! While they will be in day camp for a couple of the weeks, I was a little panicked about what to do with them for the next two months, so I took control of the situation!! I’m partnering up with some pretty awesome moms and we’re going to run our very own DIY summer camp…
Mother’s Day Gifts for Every Mom
Happy Monday everyone! It was such a beautiful day here in Toronto! Sunny and warm…I’m getting excited! It definitely felt like May today and it also definitely reminded me that Mother’s Day is less than a week away! Who’s like me and hasn’t bought a gift for mom yet? I did pick up a personalized “Best Grandma Ever” necklace from Stella & Dot from the kids last week (shhh, don’t tell her!) so luckily that should be here in time but would love to get my mom something from just me too! Not to worry though, I rounded up some great Mother’s Day gifts for every mom out there…whether she’s…
Ultimate Travel Carry-On Bag Essentials for Moms
Are you getting ready to pack for your next vacation? One of the things that most of us find a bit stressful is what to pack in our carry-on bag. Let’s be honest here, this isn’t just your personal carry-on, it’s the “family” carry-on! First off the biggest tip I can give you is to start with a great carry-on bag that is roomy yet also polished and stylish. Try to find one with lots of compartments that will fit everything you need for your trip. My second tip is to also use a second smaller crossbody bag that is just big enough for your necessary travel documents and your…
10 Simple Tips to Practice Self-Care
It was a crazy cold weekend here in Toronto and the deep freeze is continuing today! It’s -22 in Toronto but feeling more like -34! Ouch! And on top of that it’s supposed to be “Blue Monday” today – the day that is known to be “the most depressing day of the year”. How do we deal with these two gloomy things? So I’m going to jump on the bandwagon and let’s talk a bit about self-care. I’ve been meaning to address this new buzz word “self-care” for a while and feel today seems like the perfect time. You see, taking time to take care of ourselves is so essential…
How to Set Your New Year Resolution and Stick With It!
Happy New Year everyone! And hello 2019! Now that all the partying is done I think it’s time we got down to some serious business! New year, new you. New beginnings. Out with the old, in with the new. There’s a lot of clichés around the New Year and New Year Resolutions. It kind of feels like there’s so much pressure to take this one moment in time to change ourselves. I’ll be honest it took me a while to write this, mainly as I tried to wrap my head around New Year resolutions. The more I thought about it, I really do think we make “resolutions” out to be…
Goodbye 2018!
I spent the last day of 2018 relaxing with my family, watching the kids play and also took some time to reflect on this past year. I’ll be honest, 2018 started off as the worst year of my life, well that I could possibly imagine at that time. Over a year ago I had an accident that put a lot of things in my life on hold as I tried to recover. I couldn’t read. I couldn’t write. I couldn’t deal with computer screens, lights, or noise. I couldn’t work. I couldn’t handle listening to my children play or even to their laughter. I couldn’t enjoy life. I was in…
Holiday Traditions and Giving Back at Christmas
We’re a bit all partied out and just winding down for a cozy Christmas with the whole family. All the shopping is done, the presents are wrapped and under the tree, and the kids are out of school so we get to relax a bit as we get ready for Christmas Eve and Christmas day! It’s become a tradition in our house to think of the less fortunate and give back throughout the year but especially at Christmastime. Giving has always been very important to me but has become even more so in the past year. I appreciate every day that I have and everyone in my life. I’m so…
